yellow wasps expands the cast of the third season.

The Paramount+ drama with Showtime has cast Joel McHale in a guest-starring role in its upcoming third season, currently in production and set for a 2025 release. Details about McHale’s character are being kept under wraps for now.

Yellowjackets ended its second season with a shocker (heavy spoilers at that link) in its current timeline and a huge development in its wild 1996 story (more spoilers at That link), as members of a high school football team do everything they can to survive a plane crash.

The show's team has been pretty tight-lipped about what will happen in season three, though star Christina Ricci has said The Hollywood Reporter in June that the new episodes will be “even more shocking and surprising than the previous seasons. It's definitely going to be brutal. But they've also put a lot of comedy into it. So I think it's just going to be… extremely yellow wasps-y.”

McHale currently stars in the Fox comedy Animal Control and hosts the network's cooking competition Crime Scene KitchenHe also starred in The Bear and will reprise his role as Jeff Winger in Peacock's Community film. He is represented by UTA and Ziffren Brittenham.

Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson created Yellowjackets and serve as showrunners alongside Jonathan Lisco. They are executive producers with Creative Engine’s Drew Comins, Jeff Byrd, Sarah L. Thompson, Ameni Rozsa and Brad Van Arragon. The series is produced by Lionsgate Television.
